4 Cookies
The store uses cookies that are necessary for the cart, checkout and account login to work, a Google Analytics cookie that shows us how the store is used, and Google Ads cookies that measure our advertising. Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie by name, its purpose and how long it lasts.
5 Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that need it to run the store:
- Payment processor: to take your payment securely and detect fraud.
- Shipping carriers: your name, shipping address and phone number, to deliver your order.
- Website host and email provider: to run the site and send order and support emails.
- Google (advertising): the Google tag tells Google that a visit or a purchase followed one of our ads, and lets Google show our ads to people who have visited the store. Google receives visit information such as pages viewed and a cookie identifier; we do not send Google your name, address or card details through this tag.
- Legal and safety: when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and our customers against fraud.
These providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We also use Google Analytics to understand how the store is used; it identifies your browser by a cookie, not you by name.
6 We do not sell or share your information
We do not sell your personal information for money. Our use of the Google Ads tag may count as “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising under some state laws, including California’s.
You can opt out at any time: turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which this website honors by switching off ad personalization for your visit, or change your choices in Google My Ad Center. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
7 How long we keep it
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Order and payment records | Up to 7 years, as needed for tax, accounting and legal requirements |
| Account information | Until you ask us to delete it |
| Support messages and claim photos | Up to 3 years after your issue is resolved |
| Marketing email list | Until you unsubscribe |
| Cookies | For the lifetimes listed in our Cookie Policy |
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it. You can ask us to delete your account information at any time, subject to the requirements above.
8 How we protect it
The website uses HTTPS encryption on every page, card payments are processed by our payment processor rather than stored by us, and access to order data is limited to the people who need it to serve you.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
9 Your privacy rights
Depending on the state you live in, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Get a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising. As described in section 6, we do not sell your information, and Global Privacy Control opts you out of ad personalization here.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
We honor these requests for all US customers, wherever you live. To make a request, email support@tillerhouse.shop from the address linked to your orders. We verify your identity using your order information before acting, and we respond within the time the law requires, which is 45 days under California law. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you.
If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy appeal” and we will review it again. If we need to keep some information to complete a transaction, comply with the law or resolve a dispute, we will tell you.
10 Marketing emails
We send marketing email only if you have signed up for it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to stop them. You will still receive transactional emails about your orders, such as confirmations and shipping updates.
11 Global Privacy Control
This website honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: when your browser sends it, we tell Google not to use your visit for ad personalization. Because there is no common standard for the older Do Not Track signal, we rely on GPC instead. Google also offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics.
12 California residents
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA give you the rights listed in section 9, including the rights to know, correct and delete your personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We collect the categories described in section 2 and disclose them to the providers described in section 5. We do not sell personal information, we do not use sensitive personal information beyond what the law permits, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, you can ask whether we disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing. We do not.
13 Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14 Where information is processed
Our business is based in Brooklyn, New York, and we sell only within the United States. Some of our service providers may process information in other locations, under contracts that require them to protect it.
15 Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Significant changes apply only to information collected after the change takes effect.
